When  you find something that's delicious and is also good for you don't you just want to rave about it. Well that is why I am writing about the benefits of acai berries. This rich coloured fruit  which is found in the Amazon has been subject to much hype  in the media but what is the truth and  can it really help to maintain my health at its optimum.

Acai is considered to be one of the most nutritious foods and this is because of its levels of essential nutrients and antioxidants which enable our bodies to function properly.  It has a rich purple colour which shows it is rich in antioxidants, it is believed to be one of the highest known fruits in the ORAC (oxygen radical absorption capacity) scale, therefore it plays a vital critical role in neutralizing free radicals and therefore promotes well-being and longevity.

Even though Acai berries are a fruit they contain high levels of omega3 and 6 essential fatty acids which are essential for cardiovascular health and also have the beautifying oil, known as Oleic acid which is mostly associated with olive oil.
Aaci can help to increase your energy levels as it contains carbohydrates but has a low GI so you get a constant flow of energy rather than having huge sugar rushes and then crashing, this means it can also be helpful for people with diabetes who want to avoid processed sugars.

Finally It has been used to aid people with weight loss this is because it aids with detoxification and at the same time gives your body the nutrients it needs (this must always be done with caution don't think that just by taking acai berries you will lose those extra kilos, you need to look at your entire lifestyle and diet). As with many food or supplement Acai is beneficial but will not fix all your health concerns, however it has many properties which will boost your levels of health and can help you to reach your health goals when you are adopting a healthy lifestyle.
